MycoStruct Represented at NBC-2026

The MycoStruct project was represented at the Netherlands Biotechnology Congress 2026 (NBC-26), held on 22 September 2026 at Jaarbeurs Utrecht. The congress brought together the Dutch biotechnology community for keynote presentations, scientific sessions, poster pitches and networking, providing a broad overview of current developments across the field.

During the congress, Lies Levering from‍ TU Delft presented the project through a poster and short pitch, introducing MycoStruct and its work on scaling sustainable, mycelium-based protein solutions for whole-cut food applications.

The NBC-26 programme covered a wide range of biotechnology topics, including microbial biotechnology, biocatalysis, genomics, food and biobased applications, and societal aspects of biotechnology. The programme also featured several contributions connected to fungi and mycelium, including a keynote on building with fungi and a presentation on living mycelium materials.

Although MycoStruct is still at an early stage, the project attracted considerable interest from participants. The congress provided a valuable opportunity to introduce MycoStruct to the wider biotechnology community, exchange with researchers working in related fields and follow developments relevant to fungal and food biotechnology.

Participation in NBC-26 also helped strengthen MycoStruct’s visibility within the research community and placed the project alongside broader discussions on biotechnology, food innovation and emerging mycelium-based applications.
